Herman Miller chairs have a reputation for being comfortable, ergonomic, and durable. That’s all thanks to the design team behind them. Herman Miller partnered with experts in the fields of ergonomics and anthropometry to create some of the best office chairs of all time.
The Aeron: This is one of the most popular chairs in the world, and it’s not surprising why. It combines the science of sitting with the latest materials, manufacturing, and technology to provide superior comfort, durability, and support for long periods of time. It’s available in three proportional sizes, so it can accommodate users of all shapes and sizes.
It also features the PostureFit technology, which supports the sacrum (lowest point of the spine) to help reduce slouching and prevent sitting fatigue. It’s an important feature for anyone who has back pain or discomfort, and it’s optional on the Aeron.
Aeron Remastered: This is a remastered version of the original Aeron, and it’s got new technologies and features. It comes with a more refined tilt mechanism, adjustable PostureFit SL, and an updated Pellicle called 8Z that’s tighter on the edges and looser in the middle for better suspension.
This chair has a clean, contemporary look with a very solid feel. It’s made with polymid/polyurethane, which is a strong but flexible material that keeps the chair responsive as the user moves.
Another feature is the PostureFit lumbar addon, which provides additional lower back support. It’s also easy to adjust for more personalized support.
Sayl: This is the most affordable model in the Herman Miller lineup, and it’s an excellent choice for budget-minded shoppers. It’s also one of the widest-fitting models, so it’s ideal for extra-large users with wide hips or thick legs.
It has a comfortable seat and a breathable unframed back-rest, which is much cooler than standard mesh. And it offers plenty of lumbar support, a tilt stop, and firm cushions.
Gesture: This is a mid-range model, but it offers more than many of the lower-priced options. It has a contoured seat pad, adjustable lumbar support, and downwards tilt to -3deg.
In addition, it has 4D arms that can be adjusted. It’s a good option for computer users who like to shift around and switch positions during the day.
If you’re looking for a Herman Miller Aeron alternative with a little more color, the SPACE Seating Professional may be worth a look. It doesn’t have all the adjustable features of some of the more expensive models, but it still delivers impressive performance for a fraction of the price.
The only downside is that it lacks a high-rebound foam seat. That means it’s a little less comfortable than some of the other high-end Herman Miller models in our test suite.
Herman Miller also remastered the Aeron for today’s work environment, incorporating new research and innovations into its design. The company also introduced new colors and finishes to harmonize with the chair’s other components. Its Graphite, Carbon, and Mineral shades are balanced neutrals that complement any office space.
