The pair spent two years developing and building a prototype, using a mix of materials such as acrylic, fibreglass and metal, as well as the all-important lava that gives the lamp its unique character.
Design and Construction
The design of the Giant Lava Lamp UK is inspired by the classic retro lava lamps of the 1960s and 1970s. However, this colossal version takes the concept to a whole new level. The lamp is made up of four sections, each containing around 15 litres of coloured water, wax and oil. The lamp also has a heating element at the base, which heats up the mixture, causing the wax to rise and fall, creating the mesmerising display.
